About Semmes, AL - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Semmes is an Alabama city located in the western portion of Mobile County. Approximately 2,900 people call Semmes home, and the community was named for Admiral Raphael Semmes, an officer with both the U.S. and Confederate States Navy. The Mobile County Public Schools system serves Semmes students, and several higher education opportunities are located within a 30 minute drive of the community: Faulkner University’s Mobile Campus, the University of Mobile, the University of South Alabama, and Spring Hill College.

As a small city, there are only a few attractions located directly in Semmes. However, there are a variety of unique shopping opportunities in this community, including Eddie’s Wholesale Jewelry, Two Sisters Florist, and Heather’s Beads & Baubles. Outdoor activities are also available at Semmes Honor Park and McCoy’s RV Park.

There are many more attractions located in nearby Mobile. History enthusiasts may enjoy a trip to view historic artifacts at Fort Conde or to take a tour at the USS Alabama. Nature lovers may like to spend some time at the Mobile Botanical Gardens or Bienville Square, and both mainstream and independent films are offered at the Crescent Theater.

The climate of Semmes and the central Gulf Coast consists of very hot and humid summers. High temperatures in July and August reach the 90s, but the muggy conditions can make being outdoors for too long unbearable. Residents will need to have a cool place to go in order to beat the heat and stay safe.

Winters in Semmes are warm and wet, making this portion of the country popular for snow birds. High temperatures generally reach the low-60s, but this doesn’t mean that the area is immune to cold snaps. When freezing temperatures do push into the area, a reliable heat pump or furnace is essential, so it is recommended that homeowners have their units serviced during the fall to ensure optimal operation.
